Our bays and dock are getting full, and it takes a lot of time to try to figure out where things go. We appreciate everyone’s help with this. If you need to know your building’s address, please reach out to Pplant@alelgheny.edu or 814-332-5378, and we would be happy to help you.

Sustainable Move-Out: Donation Carts

Posted on April 29, 2024 | Filed under General News

As you pack up and move out for the semester, please consider how to be most sustainable with items you no longer need or want. Can you donate or recycle that item in the collection locations placed in your residence hall?

  • DONATE: Donation carts will be placed in all residence halls (check your lounge, laundry room, or kitchenette) by mid-week. Please donate any items that are worthy of reuse, clean, dry, and undamaged. Items may include clothing, shoes, furniture, furnishings, bedding and linens, appliances, electronics, books, office supplies, kitchen items, housewares, athletic and sporting goods, music, games, and decorations. Please do not donate junk. Do not donate items you wouldn’t offer a friend – if it’s damaged, ripped, stained, not functioning, just plain worn out, or perishable.
  • RECYCLE: Move-out is no exception to the rule that Allegheny always recycles plastic (#1 & 2), metal, cardboard, and paper. Recycle these items in any waste collection location in the labeled recycling bin.
  • ELECTRONICS: You can donate working appliances and electronics (clear all personal data first) or you can recycle damaged items in the electronics waste collection cage in the back of the Campus Center lobby.
